Weldon Spangler has spent thirty years in restaurants, most of them in operations, and twelve of those at Starbucks, where he rose to vice president of Starbucks Japan. He ran Papa Murphy's as chief executive from 2017 to 2019. He had been on TGI Fridays' board since 2019 when they made him chief executive in October 2023, the third person to hold the job that year, and he left the following August. Along the way came seven years at Dunkin' Brands, three at Taco Bell and two and a half at Subway.
